Russian Institute of Directors (RID) – was established in 2001 by the largest Russian companies in 2001 to develop, implement and monitor standards of corporate governance in Russia. RID is a leading expert resource consulting center on corporate governance and a key contributor to the drafting and improvement of the Russian Code of Corporate Conduct. It took part in developing of the Declaration of Principles of the Professional Community of Corporate Directors and the National Corporate Governance Rating (a consortium with Expert RA rating agency). RID is a coordinator of the National Register of Professional Corporate Directors.

Financial Institutions' Association of Kazakhstan (FIAK) - The Association was established in May, 1999 in accordance with Congress I Resolution of Kazakhstan Financiers. Total number of members of the Association has reached 175 organizations, including banks, state financial development institutions, insurance companies, pension funds, securities market professional participants, leasing, mortgage, auditing and consulting companies, research and educational institutions. The Association represents its members in governmental and other bodies, expressing and advocating the financial market's common interests. FIAK participates in efforts on the improvement of the local legislation relating to the activities and interests of Association's members. The main purpose of the Association is to establish liaison with the governmental bodies for the purpose of creating conditions for FIAK members' efficient activities and the Republic of Kazakhstan financial system development, in general.

Registered in Kazakhstan as a non-profit organization in March 1999 with 36 charter members, the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan is an active business organization currently representing nearly 200 companies, including US, multi-national and local businesses in 30 industry sectors with collective investment in Kazakhstan’s economy of several billion USD.

As the largest European investor in Kazakhstan, the UK is increasingly attracted by the opportunities presented by the country’s rich natural resources, industrial potential, qualified workforce and stable political situation. Since independence, British companies have watched Kazakhstan’s remarkable evolution into one of the world’s leading transition economies, and are keen to play a part in the development of long-term business relationships. To give momentum to this enterprise, the British-Kazakh Society was founded in 2002 to promote and develop relations between the two countries at all levels. The Investor Protection Association is a non-commercial organization established in April, 2000 on the basis of the Coordination Center for protection of investors' rights for the purpose of uniting investors' efforts aimed at protection of their rights and improvement of the corporate governance in Russia. The Association members include domestic and international investors with sizeable investments and considerable work experience on the Russian market.

All investors, operating in Russia, face political risks, inefficiency of corporate governance and weak judicial system. Recently investors witnessed numerous violations of minority investors rights by Russian issuers. Among such violations there are: misrepresentation of information, dilution, dividend delays, degradation of assets and diversion of cash flows. The latter of the above occur as the result of asset stripping, tolling and transfer pricing.
